    Our Agency The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these.

    As Georgia's public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas:
    behavioral health, developmental disabilities and hospital services.

    Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah (GRHS) is a state-funded multi-service facility operated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.

    The hospital provides quality care to mentally ill adults and individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities from its 34-county catchment area in Southeast Georgia.

    GRHS opened in December of 1970 with a design to decentralize mental health services in the state and treat people nearer to their homes and families.

    The hospital provides evaluation and treatment to clients needing care. The hospital's admitting office is a psychiatric emergency receiving facility open 24 hours a day.

    Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Dietetic Technician with the Food Service Department.

    This is a full-time position with State benefits and will work 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT. Job Description This position will assist Dieticians as they serve adults who have Mental Health issues.

    Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Inform and teach individuals about their food and medications Monitor the individuals' food tray line Conduct food demonstrations to individuals Assist in the provision of nutritional programs May plan and produce meals based on guidelines Teach individuals principles of food and nutrition Observe individuals' food intake and report progress and dietary problems Obtain and evaluate dietary histories of individuals to plan nutritional programs Plan menus and diets or guide individuals and families based upon nutritional needs and established guidelines Preferred Qualifications In addition to State minimum qualifications, preference will be given to those applicants who possess some or all of the following skills/experience: Associate's degree in a dietetic technician, dietetic assistant, or similar program from an accredited college or university Experience in conducting training/instruction in food, nutrition, dietetics, or closely related subject matter At least One year experience as a lead worker or assistant supervisor in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food in a food operation.
