    Job summary

    This role sits within our Information Services Division (ISD) which is responsible for implementing and improving all COPFS digital systems and technology throughout the service.

    As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will lead the architectural workstream on digital delivery projects within ISD. You will work closely with Business Analysts, Application Developers, IT Operationalists and Testers, pulling together to ensure all projects are delivered and goals achieved.

    In this role you will design and deliver the technical components of new solutions, such as Witness Gateway and Digital Evidence Sharing Capability (DESC), as well as contribute to ISD Architectural boards, standards and practices.

    General Responsibilities

  • Deliver identity and access management for new digital services and connect new services to existing solutions.
  • Work with agile project teams to deliver tickets, investigate bugs and resolve problems.
  • Deploy new Cloud solutions using Azure DevOps to manage and deliver software projects.
  • Help agree and implement new standards in digital architectural practice Working with colleagues across ISD and justice partners where appropriate.
  • Work on lifecycle management to analyse, maintain and replace existing solutions.�
  • Role Specific Responsibilities��

  • Contribute to project team development meetings to agree the way forward on projects.
  • Contribute to monthly architectural boards discussing draft papers and proposals, determining what is required for project delivery and providing constant evaluation.
  • Respond to any issues or reported bugs, determine the cause and oversee remedial action.
  • Conduct and help remediate security vulnerabilities identified as part of project security health checks and implement benchmarks and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the IT Operations team and wider ISD cohort to address any major incidents.
  • Document and oversee new service transitions, providing training to the IT Operations Team to ensure they can fix any reported issues.
  • Work with contractors and colleagues from other agencies including Police Scotland, Scottish Government and Courts, and the Scottish Prison Service to ensure smooth delivery of cross sector solutions and cloud platforms.

    This is a leadership position in which you should be able to manage change and influence at senior levels.� We are looking for candidates with a genuine passion for problem solving and be able to apply this to technology within digital project delivery. You may have specific qualifications in architectural frameworks, or a background in IT security and Computer Networking that will see you enjoy completing difficult tasks by working with new technologies and tools.

    Essential Criteria�

  • Ability to deliver Cloud and Hybrid Solutions, specifically Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience in computer networking and troubleshooting and providing third line support.
  • Ability to lead a workstream, take responsibility of deliverables and work with a team to achieve a common goal.
  • Ability to produce technical documentation of your work and communicate an overview to technical colleagues.
