Job summary
This position involves performing technical work involving installation, configuration, maintenance, and user support for networked computer hardware/software and related components. The LAN Support series consists of four classifications: LAN Support Technician I (this classification), LAN Support Technician II , LAN Network Specialist ,and Senior LAN Network Specialist . This role requires assisting senior technicians in various tasks including monitoring the primary helpdesk phone providing support for end users managing level 1 helpdesk requests using the county helpdesk system ensuring tickets are routed assigned to appropriate staff based on department routing protocols assists in establishing implementing maintaining system security measures ensures integrity of system data establishes security access to various computer systems programs authorized users changes passwords removes user accessibility appropriately.
The following duties are normal for this position:
- Assists senior technicians in installing configuring maintaining troubleshooting hardware software peripherals smartphones tablets software;
- Maintains knowledge of computer operating systems software programs associated with work activities troubleshoots hardware software problems;
- Maintains constant awareness new products technologies trends advances profession reads professional manuals publications increases knowledge computer operations attends user group meetings conferences workshops training sessions appropriately required by department.
This classification designated safety sensitive position subject random drug alcohol testing stated Forsyth County policies concerning drug alcohol.
