    Responsibilities

Are you a Registered Nurse looking for an environment that is not an office or hospital setting? Are you looking for the ability to make connections with your patients and work within an innovative, person-centered domain?

Workdays can be a challenge at times, however, with a pace slower than a hospital setting and the ability to work with people on a long-term basis, Open Sky nurses are provided a unique opportunity for those who are looking for a clinically based, supportive and nurturing role.

We provide opportunities for nurses that are beyond the four walls of an institutional setting, as you work within residential and community settings, focusing on recovery-based care.

In this RN position, you will have the unique opportunity to split your expertise between two day programs: the Adult Learning Center and Community Connections.

Community Connections currently serves adults between the ages of 23-66 with a primary diagnosis of intellectual disabilities. Some individuals may also have mental health diagnoses and/or physical challenges.

The Adult Learning Center is currently serving adults between the ages of 23-85 with a diagnosis of intellectual disabilities and some physical challenges.

These programs provide supports including occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, nursing oversight, functional skill development, communication, socialization, community membership, and self-advocacy.

    Other Key Responsibilities:
Provide training and consultation to programs regarding medical issues, procedures and techniques, and health and wellness practices.
Assess and provide individualized education related to person's health and disease processes; reinforce wellness and preventative health measures.

Review clinical records on a regular basis to ensure adequate services and supports are provided, including any applicable medical interventions, tests, or preventative care as necessary.

Provide oversight to the Medication Administration Program and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Supervision of the Licensed Practitional Nurse team.

    Qualifications

Licensed Registered Nurse in Massachusetts, required.
Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving history, required.
Excellent assessment, documentation, and verbal communication skills, required.
Experience with adults with mental health and psychiatric disorders, preferred.
