    About the Role & Program

    Searchlight Pictures is a filmmaker-centered company dedicated to producing unique films created by both experienced directors and up-and-coming talents. Established in 1994, the company's movies have collectively earned over $5 billion globally, winning a total of 51 Academy Awards that include five Best Picture winners since 2009: Slumdog Millionaire, 12 Years a Slave, Birdman, The Shape of Water, and Nomadland. Additionally, they have received 62 BAFTA awards and 33 Golden Globe Awards.

    The Publicity intern will play a crucial role within the Searchlight team, actively participating in the promotion and release of films by providing hands-on support at various events like special screenings, premieres, junkets, and festivals when required. As we are a tight-knit group, your contribution will be invaluable in managing special projects and administrative tasks (such as organizing PR files and assisting with meeting preparations). This immersive position will grant you insight into the film industry and awards campaigns from a distinct vantage point at our New York office. We are a friendly team and are excited to welcome you to the Searchlight family. Should you be selected for this position, you will directly report to our Publicity Director.

    What You Will Do

    • Collect and distribute daily press clippings from various media sources (newspapers, magazines, digital platforms)
    • Maintain departmental records and documents
    • Aid publicists in research initiatives
    • Arrange and oversee Zoom meetings, manage recording logistics, handle publicity material deliveries, and organize PR files
    • Prepare materials and actively engage in weekly meetings
    • Assist at screenings, premieres, junkets, and press events

    Required Qualifications & Skills

    • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, Google Workspace (Docs/Slides/Sheets), and Photoshop
    • Ability to juggle multiple tasks while maintaining meticulous attention to detail in a dynamic setting
    • Independent work capability and a proactive approach to tasks
    • Eagerness to garner PR expertise for personal career development

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Familiarity and enthusiasm for Searchlight Pictures is advantageous
    • Previous internship involvement in film, publicity, marketing, or related fields is desirable
    • Relevant academic background in PR and/or communications

    Education

    Undergraduate scholars in their final year or recent graduates within the last six months pursuing a bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, creative advertising, or a related discipline.

    Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Hold unrestricted work permission
    • Not have completed a year of continuous employment through a Disney internship or Disney College Program

    Additional Information

    • The internship is scheduled to run from August 2024 to December 2024
    • Must commit to a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week throughout the internship
    • Responsible for arranging personal accommodation during the internship in the New York City area
    • Must have dependable transportation to and from the workplace
