    Description

    Job Summary:
    The Technical Designer will be responsible for creating and updating tech packs for products.

    This position will work with design to update measurements and ensure the garment fit, construction, pre-production samples are accurate and meeting all established deadlines.

    The Technical Designer will manage the product lifecycle from sketch through pre-production through production fit approval.

    Responsibilities:

    Key Accountabilities:
    Manage product lifecycle from sketch through pre-production processes and final fit approval
    Generate computerized specification packages
    Work with Design to update measurements and specifications for the tech pack
    Review and evaluate samples for spec, pattern shape, and construction
    Maintain consistency in fit across all apparel categories
    Communicate with overseas offices and vendors to identify and resolve issues with garment construction and production
    Collaborate with Design, Sourcing, and Production on apparel development, in order to create cost effective styles
    Schedule, prepare for, and lead with fit sessions
    Evaluate fit to determine if manufacturer has met the requirements of the garments
    Ensure all specs and detailed fit comments are conveyed to vendors accurately and in a timely manner
    Utilize digital photos, technical sketches, detailed instructions, and comments from fit sessions to communicate corrections
    Approve garment for production or reject sample and schedule follow-up fit session
    Maintain log of incoming samples and measure as they are delivered
    Keep up-to-date on and research the market and competitor fit and specs

    Education and Experience:
    3+ years of experience in technical design or related

    Skills and Behaviors:
    Knowledge of apparel fitting and specs
    Basic understanding of pattern work/corrections
    Works well in fast paced and dynamic environment
    Experience in childrenswear preferred
    Knowledge of sweater knitting and construction preferred
    Ability to work independently and work to meet multiple deadlines
    Exceptional PLM, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel skills
    Ability to build and maintain relationships with other departments as well as vendors and overseas offices
