Job Summary

We are looking for a talented Cloud Platform Specialist to design, implement, and enhance cloud-native architectures that power modern API-driven systems and microfrontend applications. In this crucial role, you will set architectural standards, guide cloud-native initiatives, and work closely with frontend and platform teams to ensure optimal integration between microservices, APIs, and microfrontends.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong expertise in cloud security best practices, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and the optimization of distributed systems that support our cutting-edge crowdsourced security platform. Your contributions will be key in defining our cloud strategy and ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient infrastructure for our diverse global clientele.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud-native backend systems.
• Define best practices for cloud-optimized design patterns such as microservices and event-driven architecture.
• Ensure seamless integration of backend systems with microfrontend architectures through well-designed APIs.
• Create detailed architectural documents and technical standards for cloud-native platforms.
• Advocate for an API-first design methodology to ensure all services have clear, documented, and secure APIs.
• Work in partnership with frontend/microfrontend teams to refine API contracts for consistency.
• Establish API governance and standards for scalability and maintainability.
• Design modular microservices that align with business domains and optimize for performance, latency, and reliability.
• Provide architectural guidance on service decomposition, data ownership, caching strategies, and observability.

Cloud Strategy & Architecture

• Develop a robust multi-cloud architecture strategy (AWS/GCP) emphasizing resilience, cost efficiency, performance, and security.
• Document scalable, reliable, and secure cloud environments for both new and existing platform components.
• Evaluate new cloud technologies to enhance platform capabilities and operational effectiveness.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to transform business requirements into scalable cloud infrastructure designs.

Infrastructure & Operations

• Lead adoption and improvement of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) utilizing tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
• Oversee teams in deploying, monitoring, and maintaining cloud resources and services such as Kubernetes and databases.
• Establish best practices for configuration management and automated provisioning.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies for system health and performance.

Security & Compliance

• Integrate security principles into cloud architecture from inception (Security by Design).
• Collaborate with the Security team to ensure compliance with Bugcrowd's rigorous security standards.
• Manage cloud security tools, IAM policies, and network security measures (VPCs, firewalls).
• Serve as the subject matter expert on all matters related to cloud infrastructure.
• Provide mentorship on cloud technologies and best practices to development and operations teams.
• Drive standardization across infrastructure services and deployment methodologies.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• 10+ years of experience in cloud, platform, and backend engineering, with a strong background in distributed systems.
• 4+ years architecting cloud-native solutions on major cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Go, Java, Python).
• Extensive experience in scalable microservices architectures and API-driven design.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration platforms.
• Knowledge of networking, security, observability, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

• Professional cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
• Background in high-growth SaaS environments or the security industry.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2.
• Experience with event-driven systems like Kafka.
• Experience building scalable SaaS or multi-tenant platforms.

Working Conditions: This position allows remote work from home full-time. Candidates should be able to manage occasional lift of a laptop and remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time.

Pay range: The estimated national base salary for the position is $156,800 - $196,000, with the potential for a discretionary bonus based on individual and organizational performance.
