    Description

    What You Will Do


    The Manufacturing Manager position at Los Alamos National Laboratory is responsible for managing and maintaining safe, secure, and compliant work environments at facilities enabling efficient and effective mission execution.

    The Manager provides support to the FOD over areas of Operations and Management of facilities at TA-55


    Manager authorizes and/or manages all operational activities including safety basis; health, safety and environmental management; security; quality assurance and work control; engineering; maintenance; and budgets.


    What You Need

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    • Expert knowledge of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, lock-out/tag-out and facility policies and procedures.
    • Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience in Nuclear Operations and implementation of applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience in conduct of operations and quality assurance programs.
    • Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at all levels.
    • Expert knowledge and proven experience in Facility Management, to include: Maintenance, Engineering, Safety Basis, Operations, Radiation Protection, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene.
    • Proven leadership and management ability. Understands and is committed to continuous improvement process and leadership principles. Ability to promote an open and informal communication environment, to develop mutual trust and teamwork, and to facilitate employee self-development.

    Education Required:

    Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

    2:

    Operations Management requires a Bachelor of Science in engineering or related science, 3 years job-related experience and 2 years nuclear experience.


    Desired Qualifications:

    • Ability to negotiate with customers or management, or attempting to influence senior-level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
    • In-depth knowledge of the Laboratory's organizational structure and objectives.­

    Work Environment:
    TA-55 Facility Operations' Mission is to provide Weapons Production, and their tenants, with Safe, Secure, Compliant and Available Facilities. We strive for continuous improvement by fostering a learning organization with strong values for safety, people and cost effectiveness.


    The TA55 Facilities Operations Division (TA-55 DO) provides the Associate Lab Director for Weapons Production (ALDWP) and their tenants, with Safe, Secure, Compliant and Available Facilities.


    Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.


    Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

    Clearance:
    Q (Position will be cleared to this level).

    Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.

    This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances.

    Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens.

    Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

    *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order for additional information.


    HRP:

    This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, § These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

    2:

    This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.


    New-Employment Drug Test:

    The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

    Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law.

    A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

    Regular position:
    Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

    Internal Applicants:

    Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.

    If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.

    Incentive Compensation Program:
    Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program.

    You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th.

    The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
