- Effectively inform and educate patients, staff, and facility partners about music therapy
- Establish therapy objectives as part of the patient assessment
- Plan, review, and assess therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and aid in subsequent session planning
- Take an active role in sessions by playing instruments, singing, and listening
- Encourage patients to participate in sessions and support them musically and improvisationally
- Support the patient's creative development and facilitate positive changes in behavior and well-being
