    Overview:

    This position will mainly support sales/marketing team and collection team for our post closing portfolio servicing activities. This position is responsible for handling all customer inquiries and requests such as: principal balance inquiries, early payoff requests, and invoice billing inquiries, audit confirmation letters, requests for copies of amortization schedules, request for copies of contracts and all other general customer-related questions.

    The Position is also responsible for collections issues from the existing SMFL customers via Syndication Buy-desk channel.

    The Position will have a dual reporting line, mainly report to SVP of Business Development Group and secondly report to ED of Credit/Collection.

    The anticipated salary range for this role is between $61,000 and $72,000. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

    Responsibilities:
    • Interface with customers via phone or email and the utmost service quality is provided to satisfy our customers needs
    • Handle customer requests/inquiries directly or directs request/inquiry/issue to the appropriate department personnel in Accounting, Collections, Operations, Credit and Marketing/Sales departments
    • Review open accounts in Syndication Buy-desk accounts for collection efforts
    • Make outbound collection calls in a professional manner while keeping and improving customer relations.
    • Collect customer payments in accordance with payment due dates.
    • Identify issues with billing, pricing, systems, etc. and escalate as needed including assisting the Accounting Department to resolve any billing or payment misapplication issues.
    • Maintain and document communication with customers, this includes updating all customer comment logs, drafting and sending all Demand, Default and other Notices to delinquent customers
    • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor
    Qualifications:
    • Finance or Accounting Bachelors required
    • Should have 5-years of experience in a financial services environment. 5 years Asset finance or leasing experience in a similar role is a plus. Proficient in use of TValue, HP 12B or similar calculator for making lease and loan calculations.
    • General knowledge of financing products including, small and mid ticket leases, loans and other banking/equipment financing services products.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Organized and detail oriented.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive and team-oriented approach to achieving goals and contributing to the company.
