    Position: Facilities and Maintenance Technician

    Reports To: Director of Facilities

    FLSA Classification: Exempt

    Responsibilities:

    Perform all work necessary for repairs & maintenance including:

    • Perform assigned work order requests.
    • Assist as directed in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, such as plumbing, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, thermostats.
    • Replace, move or repair damaged or broken furniture and fixtures.
    • Repair or replace damaged ceiling tile or floor tile.
    • Perform minor electrical repairs including replacement of electrical outlets, ballasts, light bulbs.
    • Perform minor HVAC repairs including replacement of thermostats and filters, cleaning of drains, etc. Determine when outside contractor is required for HVAC repairs.
    • Perform minor plumbing repairs including clogs, leaks, and minor replacements.
    • Check equipment and see that it is in good working condition. Repair as needed.
    • Maintain appearance of outside sidewalks and stairs including leaf blowing & pressure washing.
    • Maintain playground equipment (includes pressure washing) and make repairs as needed.
    • Maintain outdoor benches, gazebos, decks, walkways, fences, handrails and steps including repairs & painting.
    • Minor construction projects including drywall, demolition, patch & paint.
    • Remove trees, limbs and debris from campuses.
    • Clear ice and snow from parking lots and stairs, de-ice where needed.
    • Hang banners and signs outside and inside buildings.
    • Maintain buses including minor, non-engine related repairs.
    • Maintain tool inventory.
    • Perform custodial tasks as assigned.

    Conduct periodic safety inspections in a manner and frequency as directed by the Director of Facilities including:

    • 14-passenger buses.
    • Playground including equipment, mulch levels, and fencing.
    • Fire equipment including extinguishers, alarms & exit signage.
    • Buildings and grounds including plumbing, HVAC, roof, driveways, sidewalks.

    Assist with events including:

    • Tables, chairs, tents, stage, signage and decorations setups.
    • Fire, tornado & intruder drills.
    • Driving buses.
    • Serving as the event supervisor or on-call facilities and maintenance technician.

    Qualifications:

    • High School diploma required.
    • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a commercial environment.
    • A mission-driven individual who demonstrates an eagerness to serve in a faith-based academic environment & genuine ability to connect with and serve young people in a Christian community.
    • Communications: Effective written, verbal, and editing communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
    • Collaboration: Has student-centered focus and ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners.

    • Frequently sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.

    • Drives personal vehicle across campuses.
    • Have specific vision abilities required by this job that include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
    • Manage equipment, including a phone, computer, camera, video equipment, and other electronic devices.
    • Use muscles or limbs to Lift boxes or items under 30 lbs.
    • Occasionally work nights and weekends in support of departmental school activities.
