    Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas:

    SB/SE Deputy Commissioner Exam, Specialty Examination, BSA Examination

    The following are the duties of this position at the full working level.

    • Analyzes and resolves processing problems such as missing information, improperly submitted filings, and makes adjustments to the filer's account. Assesses penalties within established limits based on standard violations such as habitual errors, late filings, or non-response.
    • Conducts research in Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS) and Currency and Banking Retrieval System (CBRS), assembles case files, researches issues, determines and levies penalties and responds to various inquiries from Revenue Agents, penalized taxpayers, Taxpayer Advocate Staff, other IRS employees, taxpayer attorneys, and other taxpayer representatives concerning IRS/FinCEN Form 8300.
    • Inputs penalties into IDRS and processes IDRS account changes as necessary. Issues determination letters to sustain or waive the proposed penalty and transmits penalty letters for mailing. Provide filers or their representatives appropriate information concerning appeal rights and procedures. Perfects filed documents and makes corrections in the CBRS data base.
