Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Manager with a background in ice sports to lead our team and oversee operations at our retail locations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, optimizing sales performance, managing inventory, and motivating staff. Your leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to work closely with coordinators will be crucial as a you maintain high standards and drive our stores forward. This position will oversee the pro shops at both Ice Den Scottsdale and Ice Den Chandler.
· Always give 100% effort towards Customer Service; this includes maintaining a clean shop, a welcoming environment, and an operationally efficient store that provides a great guest experience.
· Hire new staff as necessary, analyze, review, and discipline appropriately; regularly schedule these employees in accordance with the business trends.
· Train and develop retail associates to meet expectations of customers and store objectives; train specifically product knowledge, equipment use/repair, customer retention technique, etc.
· Manage retail inventory counts in Scottsdale and Chandler, collect invoices from vendors and submit to Accounting in the timeliest manner; responsible for accurate reporting of sales activity
· Stock and reorder inventory in an effective fashion; utilize creative sales tactics to move outdated items.
· Maintain and share knowledge of all hockey and figure skating products which includes equipment sizing, basic skate repairs, sharpening; continue teaching as inventory grows or changes seasonally.
· Contribute and delegate tasks for sales associates such as folding apparel, taking payments, skate sharpening, store opening/closing, and stocking shelves.
· Enforce safety, health, and security rules/regulations in line with the integrity of the company.
· Propose/project fiscal budget within proper deadline.
· Develop training plans and policies to ensure consistency and organization within the team.
· Manage all controllable costs with a view to maintaining profitability.
· Special projects as determined by Senior Leaders.
Requirements
Physical & Environmental Requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods of time in a work area with varying light levels and controlled temperatures. This position requires the ability to frequently walk, bend, stoop, carry, kneel, reach, and use tools with hands/feet. The employee is occasionally required to climb to elevated heights. Lifting/movement requirements are as follows: Regularly up to 25 lbs ., frequently up to 50 lbs., and occasionally more than lbs. The noise level of the environment is moderate to loud. Must be able to see through vision; hear, talk, read, and write in English. Must possess the ability to use machinery such as Skate Sharpener.
Education & Certifications: High School Diploma, or a General Education Degree(GED) is required. College education preferred.
Experience & Knowledge: Experience in direct customer service, working with the public, or in a retail environment required. Knowledge of general accounting principles and inventory control required. Exposure to Ice Hockey and Figure Skating, knowledge of the industry, and skate sharpening experience is desired.
Experience with independently coordinating schedules and managing the work of an entirely staffed department is necessary.
Skills & Personality: Must be an accountable, team player who possesses problem solving skills, initiative, and sound judgement in making independent decisions. Ability to understand, follow, and give direction. Maintain positive attitude in all situations. Remain calm, resourceful, and responsible in everyday or stressful encounters. Must have leadership qualities to train others in accomplishing goals, evaluating options, or implementing solutions. Should be an excellent communicator, and able to get along well with various personalities.
