    The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the University of Houston (UH) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large-scale Machine Learning (ML) at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.

    The successful candidate will be appointed at the Assistant (Tenure-track), or Associate Professor (Tenure-eligible) ranks, with a joint appointment in Computer Science.

    The rank of the appointment will be based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

    The department is seeking outstanding candidates with the potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

    The anticipated start date for this position is September 1, 2024.

    UH is a Carnegie Tier One public research university that is located on a park-like campus a few minutes from the Houston city center.

    The ECE department stretches across 3 campuses, one in Houston (central), one in Katy, TX, and one in Dalian (China).

    Our central campus is home to 37 tenure-track faculty, 4 full-time research faculty, and 4 instructional faculty, with 3 NAE members, 3 NAI Fellows, 8 IEEE Fellows, 3 AIMBE Fellows, 2 SAE Fellows, 2 FRSC(UK), and Fellows of OSA, APS, AAAS, ECS, SPIE, AAAS, among other distinctions.

    The department is home to multiple NSF Centers, Industry/University consortia, and a nanofabrication facility. The university has a well-developed faculty-centered ecosystem for translational research and commercialization of technologies.

    Applicants must possess an earned doctorate in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or other relevant scientific field at the time of application.
