The Signal Technician performs work of a moderately difficult and complex operational nature in electronic systems analysis and repair, traffic signal construction layout and inspection, and traffic signal operation and repairs.
- Perform construction inspection functions of traffic signal projects including: approval of underground electrical component placements and procedures; testing and collecting samples of concrete for footings; approval of traffic controls; testing electrical circuits to prevent unsafe signal operations or failures; and installing control components in the controller cabinet.
- Inspects and performs tests on electrical control circuitsand cabinets for installation at traffic signals.
- Maintainsand keeps in repairtraffic controlsignaland flasher systemsincluding: inspectingand diagnosing failures, performing prevention maintenance,replacingwornand damagedelectricalandelectroniccomponents,and replacing,cleaning,and painting signalelements.
