Summary
Position Summary
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the assigned section.

They plan, organize, and direct the activities of the technical and non-technical personnel to provide optimal, cost effective delivery of services according to department standards of quality, productivity and performance.

Serves as a resource to identify, investigate, resolve and monitor concerns when they are identified. The laboratory supervisor acts as a liaison for all levels of staff. They collaborate with managers to assure uninterrupted workflow. They also understand and comply with the Behavior Standards and department policies, procedures and regulations.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Medical Laboratory Technician Associate Degree or higher
Experience
Five years of laboratory experience within depth knowledge of laboratory operations
License/Registration/Certifications
Certification by an acceptable laboratory registry as a MLT, MT, or MLS
Histology Supervisor must have
ASCP with either HT or HTL
Preferred Requirements

Experience working off shift in a large hospital laboratory setting and prefer previous supervisory experience
Preferred License/Registration/Certifications

Core Job Responsibilities

Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental and treatment needs of patients, families, and visitors ranging in age from neonate-birth to geriatric.

Must possess an in-depth technical knowledge of all sections of responsibility and must perform competently in all areas of responsibility.

Must possess reasonably high level of mental acuity with special attention to detail.
Must be able to withstand the stress and demands of an active position.
Must be able to respond calmly and efficiently in crisis situations.
Must be able to work as a team member, demonstrating good interpersonal skills.
Must be able to communicate professionally with physicians, management and staff
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work irregular and flexible hours. Must be able to work one week per month on third shift.
Must be able to perform technical over site and testing in the highly infectious disease lab.
Must be trained and maintain competency on limited procedures in the Highly Infectious Disease Testing.
Must maintain credentials and licensure.
