- Perform physical examinations of patients to evaluate health and prepare for surgery, to include vitals and EKG
- Order necessary diagnostic tests, such as x-rays and laboratory tests in order to prep patient for surgery, as well as follow up for completed testing
- Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary
- Prescribe and dispense medications as needed
- Document medical information of patients and maintain electronic medical records
- Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families in preparation for their upcoming surgeries
- Request consultation or referral with other health care providers, such as physicians and clinics as needed
- Retrieve necessary information from primary care or specialty offices in order to complete the history and physicals needed for surgery
- Work closely with the Physicians, Surgical Coordinators, and Ambulatory Surgery Center to ensure proper documentation, testing, paperwork, etc. has been completed and sent for each patient
- Assist in VEI related activities and projects as needed throughout the year (Ex. Flu vaccines, COVID testing, etc)
- Actively maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends, and support research projects
- Must be compassionate and personable
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and other medical staff
- Strong leadership skills, self-confidence, and ability to remain calm in stressful situations

- Team player
- Masters degree from an accredited nursing program.
- RN licensure, and board-certified by either ANCC or AANP
- APN authorization in the state where employed to practice in family health by the Board of Nurse Examiners
- Prescriptive authorization
- 2-4 years of clinical work experience preferred
- Experience providing primary care as a family nurse practitioner preferred
- Proficiency with medical equipment required to perform your work
- Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records
- A sound understanding of all pertinent federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of disease prevention
