JOB PURPOSE:

Functions as a first assistant duringoperative and other invasive procedures in accordance withcredentials,
privileges, experience, education andcompetency verification. Assists OR staff in the assignedroom/case. At time
facilitates the operative or otherinvasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterileinstruments,
supplies and equipment in the role of scrubtech. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds tothe needs
of the surgicalteam
Qualifications:


MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:

Graduate from asurgical technologist program. Requires completion of didactic andclinical components of the
First Assistant program orcompetency verified by a sponsoring Piedmont surgeon during theorientation period.


MINIMUMEXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Three yearsperioperative servicesexperience.





ADDITIONAL REQUIREDCERTIFICATIONS:


Certified surgicaltechnologist (CST).
Basic Life Support (BLS)certification.


MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BYLAW:

N/A


ADDITIONALPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certifiedsurgical assistant (CSA), Certified surgical first assistant(CSFA), Surgical assistant, certified, (SA-C) or
equivalent certification
