    Job Summary

    We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer with a strong background in substation design to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical engineering, particularly in the design and implementation of electrical substations. The role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop efficient and reliable substation designs that meet project requirements and industry standards. The Substation Engineer will also be responsible for overseeing the design process, conducting feasibility studies, and providing technical expertise to ensure successful project execution.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Develop detailed substation designs, including layout, equipment specifications, and protection schemes, in accordance with project requirements and relevant standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC).
    2. Conduct feasibility studies and assess technical requirements for new substation projects, considering factors such as load capacity, voltage levels, environmental impact, and cost-effectiveness.
    3. Collaborate with internal teams, including electrical engineers, project managers, and procurement specialists, to ensure seamless integration of substation designs within larger projects.
    4. Review and analyze technical drawings, specifications, and documentation related to substation design, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    5. Provide technical support and guidance to project teams throughout the design, construction, and commissioning phases, addressing any design-related issues or challenges that may arise.
    6. Perform risk assessments and mitigation strategies to identify and address potential hazards or vulnerabilities in substation designs.
    7. Stay informed about advancements in substation technology, industry trends, and regulatory changes, and incorporate relevant updates into design practices and methodologies.
    8. Collaborate with external stakeholders, including utility companies, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to obtain necessary approvals and permits for substation projects.
    9. Participate in design reviews, meetings, and presentations to communicate project status, address technical concerns, and solicit feedback from stakeholders.
    10. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training as needed to support their professional development.

    Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
    2. Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
    3. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in substation design, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
    4. In-depth knowledge of substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and protective relays.
    5. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and simulation tools used in substation design (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, PSCAD).
    6. Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations governing substation design and construction.
    7. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to solve complex technical problems and optimize design solutions.
    8. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    9. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    10. Willingness to travel occasionally and work flexible hours as needed to support project requirements.

    The company offers competitive compensation, salary range circa $150k to $160k, there can be a certain degree a flexibility for the right candidate.
