- Minimum of 1 year RN behavioral health experience, subject to BHU Director's discretion.
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Current RN license issued by the California State Board of Nursing
- Ability to read and communicate (in-person and/or via telephone/intercom) effectively in English

- AVIP/CPI/MAB equivalent

- FIRE Card
- Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) authorization completed within 90 days of employment.

Mission Community Hospital, a 145-bed acute care facility located in the San Fernando Valley, is currently searching for four Full-Time, Day/Night Shift, Charge Nurse positions for the Behavioral Health Unit.
Job Summary
This position will be primarily working with an acutely ill psychiatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and/or developmental age of the individual served. Demonstrate a high Level of Commitment to providing direct and indirect patient care to the above identified population, guides licensed (registered nurse and licensed vocational nurse) and non-licensed personnel as assigned in the acute care setting. Exhibit a Sense of Urgency, appropriate to the situation, while communicating with Physicians/Directors/Managers/House Supervisors/Co-Workers about changes in patient's psychiatric and/or clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
Additionally, is able to perform nursing duties in assigned department exhibiting a Can Do Attitude. Additional functions applicable when acting as Charge Nurse: Assists Supervisors/Manager in patient care assignments based on the skill, experience, temperament of nursing personnel and based on the acuity of the patients, ensuring patient and staff safety, assist in the evaluation of performance and skills of Agency/Temporary staff, as well as, permanent acute care staff. To responsibly direct and precept staff members as needed/assigned in all aspects of acute care management.
To participate in quality and process improvement(s) in the department during all phases from planning to implementing, and sustaining efforts, to include presenting finding to Supervisors/Managers for possible need of taking corrective action when employees fail to carry out delegated duties.
