Job Responsibilities
Plan, develop, implement and evaluate strategies for promoting and supporting breastfeeding among the high risk, low income population; especially prenatal/breastfeeding women and infants within the 10 counties of district 8-1.
Completion of an undergraduate degree in dietetics, nursing, community health nutrition, health education, at a four year college or university AND a minimum of one year of experience providing breastfeeding education, lactation counseling and assessments, and peer counselor supervision in a hospital or community health setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Licensure/Certification: Registered Dietitian; Registered Professional Nurse; Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or current status as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLS) or Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). Two years of professional experience in the provision of nutrition or nursing services, one which was in a community health setting.
