*Job Definition*Scope of Position*The RN - Flight Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to the critically ill/injured client in an aero-medical environment without direct physician supervision, and using advanced clinical knowledge and skills. The Flight Nurse will assess and treat all life threatening illnesses and injuries while working in an independent, yet cooperative role with the second medical provider and pilot. This individual will utilize effective communication of information between flight crew members, flight following, and referring agencies in order to maintain a safe environment for the flight team. The Flight Nurse will complete patient care report documentation in a collaborative manner after the completion of all patient care flights. Patient care reports are completed thoroughly and timely. This individual will display focus upon personal, as well as crew safety, based upon such risk areas as the medical environment, rescue environment, and the aviation environment. Additionally, the Flight Nurse will utilize quality, effective, techniques focused on customer service, and service recovery, in order to maintain optimal relations with the pre-hospital, as well as hospital community/customer.

*Education/License*Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing program. Minimum of three to five years of RN experience, with three years' experience in the Emergency Department or Critical Care area. Pre-hospital experience preferred. Complete and pass Class II FAA physical on hire and annually. Maintain weight of 215 or less.
FLIGHT PARAMEDIC TO FLIGHT NURSE TRANSITION PLAN:
Minimum of 3 years (minimum 4000 hours) experience as a Flight Paramedic. Minimum of one year RN experience in the Emergency Department or Critical Care area. Completion of above education and license/certification requirements.
