Transportation/Traffic Engineer - Analysis | Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ
VHB is seeking a Transportation/Traffic Engineer with strong Vissim modeling capabilities and approximately 5 to 8 years of experience to join our Mobility group.

ResponsibilitiesWork within a team of professionals in developing mobility and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects
Participate in performing traffic impact studies
Develop and calibrate traffic microsimulation models to evaluate multiple scenarios, debug models to generate realistic results, explain the results of microsimulation models to clients in an accessible manner, and have the ability to independently accomplish these tasks with minimal oversight
Develop, analyze, and evaluate traffic improvements
Research and interpret transportation data, community statistics and demographics to assess the mobility needs of a community
Prepare conceptual designs for roadways, intersections, pedestrian and bicycle paths, etc. design
Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports
Participate in meetings with clients, consultant partners, and other stakeholders
Prepare and deliver analysis findings, concerns, and recommendations in a collaborative fashion
Serve as a task leader on small to mid-size projects
Skills & Abilities:
A strong background in traffic engineering, traffic modeling, task management, and supervision of professional staff where applicable
Substantial technical project experience and project management experience is a plus
Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated
Strong writing skills for proposals, technical reports and memoranda
The ability to balance multiple concurrent assignments
The ability to train, mentor, and lead staff on a wide range of project assignments
Excel in working in a team environment
Experience with PTV Vissim, ideally with a demonstrated history of developing and calibrating multiple complex Vissim models
Experience with PTV VISWALK and VISUM preferred
Experience with other traffic microsimulation tools such as Aimsun or Sim Traffic is a plus
Experience with VBA, PYTHON, SQL and databases a plus
Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation a plus
Qualifications:
5-8 years of professional transportation engineering experience required
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or transportation required (master's degree a plus and may substitute for 1 year of experience)
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of New York or New Jersey expected (or the ability to obtain registration within six months)
Strong Vissim modeling capabilities required
Experience with HCS and Synchro required
Experience in the NYC/NJ area would be a plus
Experience with major agencies in the New York City metropolitan area including NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCEDC, PANYNJ, MTA-Bridges and Tunnels preferred
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $92,000-120,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
