    Camp Forbes Health Administrator

    Examples of Duties

    Under administrative direction, performs daily planning, supervision, and implementation of recreation programs and activities. Oversees the daily maintenance of equipment for designated activities or programs. Assigns work to employees and schedules recreation programs and activities within a designated area. Promotes and publicizes recreation programs and activities conducted within the center's service area. Orients, trains, and evaluates employees under immediate supervision. Coordinates designated programs and activities among recreation centers. Recruits and trains local volunteer leadership to assist in program development and implementation. Performs other job-related duties as required.
    Minimum Qualifications

    CAMP DIRECTOR: A High School Diploma or GED; an undergraduate degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field is preferred. Two years of full time paid experience in a capacity where bookkeeping skills were utilized and financial reports prepared is preferred. Must have experience in handling administrative responsibilities for recreation program planning and implementation. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.
    Supplemental Information

    Oversee daily operations within the health-care setting at camp:
    • Review all camper and counselor medical and health history forms
    • Set-up of camper check-in stations in relation to health screenings and camp physicals on registration days
    • Assist in conducting non-intrusive health screenings of all campers and counselors including checking for lice, observable evidence of illness, injury or communicable disease
    • Collect all medication from campers, tag it, enter into log book, and secure it in the lock boxes in the infirmary.
    • Keep infirmary locked at all times when not under your direct supervision
    • Oversee self-administered medication daily
    • Return all medication to campers on the morning of departure
    • Inform staff of specific needs of campers including restrictions in diet and exercise, and any potential medical problems of campers
    • Maintain a professional level of interaction among all staff members and hold all medical issues confidentially
    • Inform kitchen staff of any food allergies to be aware of each week
    • Complete daily medication log forms and review daily to ensure completion during off duty hours
    • Complete daily clinic log book(enter all camper and staff visits) and review daily to ensure completion during off duty hours and to follow up on incidents
    • Contact parents regarding all visits to the infirmary
    • Provide medical attention to staff and campers who sustain open cuts, skin abrasions, splinters, bee-stings, heat related concerns, stomach-aches, headaches, and all other reasonably anticipated illnesses and injuries at camp
    • Maintain the cleanliness of infirmary at all times
    • Maintain an orderly and timely process while providing medical attention
    • Maintain weekly camper files (i.e. alphabetize and separate according to gender). Files will be held in the infirmary on a weekly basis
    • Review return to camp documents given by physician when campers leave camp due to injury or illness
    • Prepare camper release forms and ensure protocol is followed when campers leave the premises.
    • Maintain office hours during the busiest times of day: Mornings from 7:30-9:30am, Afternoons from 11-2pm and Evenings from 3:30-4:30pm
    • Patrol the campgrounds and inspect for safety hazards, ensure safety procedures are being followed and first aid kits are stocked and available at proper stations
    • Take an active role in continuing the health and safety education of staff and campers (i.e. ask first aid and safety questions)
    • Assist with weekly departure procedures
