Overview
Responsible for understanding how the cost accounting process works and ensuring that operation leaders can access cost information. Maintains up-to-date and accurate procedure level cost by maintaining monthly maintenance and updates to the Cost Accounting Model. Researches department and procedure costs to ensure appropriate allocations and reconciliations of allocated costs to General Ledger.
What you will do
Provides monthly maintenance and updates to the Riverside Cost Model so that all procedure costs are current and accurate
Reconciles and validates source data integrated into the Cost Accounting system, such as the General Ledger, Payroll, and Statistical data
Performs monthly analysis of departmental and procedure costs to verify costs are applied accurately
Reviews overhead costs and statistics to ensure appropriate allocations
Assists in any implementations of new allocation methodologies designed to automate and improve the accuracy of procedure costs
Regularly interacts and works collaboratively with various departments such as Decision Support, Performance Improvement, and Operations
Assists in educating administration, service line leaders, and department heads regarding cost accounting
Qualifications
Education
Bachelors Degree, Accounting, Finance, Informatics, or other business-related field (at least 8 credits in Cost Accounting and 4 credits in Auditing) (Required)
Experience
3-4 years Financial analysis, budgeting, reimbursement, or accounting experience (Required)
1 year Experience in utilizing cost accounting systems (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
Ability to understand issues related to data validation and data flow between systems preferred
Requires intermediate knowledge of MS Excel/Access and other finance related software programs
Requires excellent problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills
Proficient in both verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of healthcare is preferred
