    Water Aerobics Instructor


    About the Role:

    We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Water Aerobics Instructor to lead our upcoming AM boot camp program at Trinity Washington University.


    Responsibilities:

    • Teach scheduled classes, ensuring a safe and enjoyable workout experience for all participants.
    • Instruct class members on effective workout methods, providing demonstrations and explanations of proper techniques.
    • Prepare equipment, music, and handouts for each class, and assist participants as needed.
    • Maintain a positive and informative exercise environment, addressing questions and concerns from participants.
    • Ensure safety standards are met, and department and facility policies are adhered to at all times.
    • Greet participants warmly, maintaining a motivational atmosphere that encourages long-term participation and member retention.
    • Enforce pool rules and policies, showing respect and responsibility for all equipment.

    Qualifications:

    • At least two (2) years of experience teaching water aerobics.
    • CPR/First Aid/AED certification (active and maintained through ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NDEITA or equivalent national certification).
    • Proven ability to swim.
    • Age 18 or older, with a fitness/group exercise background.
    • Knowledge of exercise physiology principles related to a well-rounded fitness program.
    • Physically fit to lead classes at an appropriate level.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    • The work environment is typically hot and humid, with reduced air quality due to chloramines and ammonia compounds produced from pool water disinfection.
    • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds may be required.
    • Able to project voice over pool noise to ensure instructions can be heard.
    • Instructors are expected to dress appropriately.
