Job summary

The Payroll and Benefits Manager is responsible for accurate administration of payroll and employee benefits in a private education environment including adherence to federal regulations supports institutional policies provides high-quality service to employees while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage biweekly/monthly payroll for exempt non-exempt employees including faculty on academic-year employment agreements hourly staff seasonal employees stipended roles Ensure accurate calculation of wages overtime stipends supplemental pay deductions Administer payroll changes related hires terminations leaves contract changes role adjustments Oversee payroll tax compliance filings reconciliations year-end reporting W-2s 941s etc. Coordinate payroll audits resolve discrepancies collaboration Finance
  • Administer employee benefit programs health dental vision life insurance disability retirement plans FSA Manage benefits eligibility enrollment changes terminations accordance plan documents school policies Serve liaison benefits brokers vendors plan administrators Support annual open enrollment communications system setup employee education Ensure compliance ERISA COBRA ACA HIPAA applicable regulations Maintain compliance federal state local employment laws Support institutional audits regulatory inquiries related personnel data security Confidentiality security employee data Serve knowledgeable approachable resource employee questions guidance pay statements deductions benefit options leave-related impacts Collaborate HR colleagues onboarding offboarding leave administration Maintain systems ensuring accuracy process efficiency Generate reports leadership Finance Identify opportunities improvement automation Required Qualifications Bachelor degree human resources Accounting Business Administration related field Minimum years experience inhuman resources accounting business administration or related field Strong knowledge oflaws requirements Experience HRIS systems High level accuracy discretion attention detail Preferred Qualifications Experience independent school higher education nonprofit environment CPP SHRM-CP certification Familiarity academicyear employment structures Core Competencies Confidentiality ethical judgment Attention detail Accuracy Strong communication customer service skills Analytical problem-solving abilities Ability manage multiple deadlines cyclical educational environment Work Environment Office-based within private school setting Periodic evening weekend work during cycles open enrollment fiscalyear-end
