- Lead and mentor the Retrieval Ingestion Team, offering technical guidance and coordinating efforts across multiple projects.
- Design and sustain scalable ingestion pipelines capable of efficiently processing billions of documents.
- Encourage the use of event-driven and micro-batch frameworks such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Flink.
- Collaborate with retrieval-focused engineers to optimize ingested data for indexing and search performance.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators regarding ingestion throughput, latency, and data completeness.
- Collaborate closely with platform, security, and compliance teams to ensure data handling aligns with enterprise standards and security protocols.
- Promote best practices in CI/CD, observability, automated testing, and operational readiness for ingestion systems.
- Drive innovation by integrating vector indexing, knowledge graph enrichment, and AI technologies into the ingestion process.
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a leadership position.
- Demonstrated success in building distributed ingestion or ETL systems for large-scale data platforms.
- Extensive knowledge of indexing and search systems such as Elasticsearch, Lucene, Solr, Vespa, or OpenSearch.
- Strong programming skills in C#, Java, Python, or Go, focusing on performance and reliability.
- Experience with schema evolution and managing semi/unstructured data for processing.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Solid understanding of observability and operational resilience in ingestion systems.
- Familiarity with incorporating embeddings and vector databases into workflows.
- Experience in knowledge graph enrichment for processing entities and their relationships.
- Background in compliance-heavy sectors such as legal, finance, or healthcare.
- Knowledge of change data capture (CDC) and event sourcing methodologies.
- Participation in open-source projects linked to ingestion, indexing, or retrieval frameworks.
- Take the lead in the Retrieval Ingestion Team, shaping how documents are integrated into our cutting-edge search platform.
- Work at the intersection of distributed systems, data retrieval, and AI, ensuring the efficient indexing of billions of documents.
- Mentor junior engineers and establish best practices in ingestion and indexing across the organization.
