    LOCATION: Las Vegas, NV with travel to California

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    TITLE: Aircraft Mechanic

    REPORTS TO: Maintenance Superintendent, Production Superintendent, or Expeditor

    WORK EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years MQ-1 experience required.

    Level I Mechanic: Four (4) years of Aviation Maintenance experience as Aircraft Technician, Aircraft Phase, EOR, R&R, WT, or Crash Recovery and Journeyman skill level. Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) 2A353 preferred.

    Level II Mechanic: Six (6) years of Aviation Maintenance experience as Aircraft Technician, Aircraft Phase, EOR, R&R, WT, or Crash Recovery and Craftsman skill level. AFSC 2A373 preferred.

    Level III Mechanic (Lead): Ten (10) years of Aviation Maintenance experience as Aircraft Technician, Aircraft Phase, EOR, R&R, WT, or Crash Recovery and Expert skill level. Four (4) years of leadership and management experience. AFSC 2A393 preferred.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING: Must be MQ-1 engine run qualified and must have verifiable training records with MQ-1 training.

    Level I Mechanic: High School diploma. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) License or equivalent military/commercial aircraft maintenance experience.

    Level II Mechanic: High School diploma. FAA A&P License or equivalent military/commercial aircraft maintenance experience. Engine Run certification desired.

    Level III Mechanic (Lead): Associates of Applied Science degree or equivalent military/commercial aircraft maintenance experience. FAA A&P License or equivalent military/commercial aircraft maintenance experience.

    FLSA Status:Non-Exempt

    REQUIREMENTS: Current Secret Security Clearance. US Citizen or authorized immigration status. Required to travel.

    Skills and Characteristics:

    Excellent attention to detail. Very good communication skills both written and verbal. Excellent team member.

    Physical Requirements:

    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must meet company fitness for deployment requirements.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Position Summary: Performs organizational level servicing, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on manned aircraft or unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Conducts weapons loading, storage, and transport. Repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines. Maintains and repairs aircraft components including, but not limited to, flight controls, engines, landing gear, fuel systems, Phase, EOR, Wheel and Tire and Repair and Recovery and mechanical components. Knowledge of unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and other special tools and equipment. Uses and interprets technical orders (TO's) and technical data to apply technical expertise and knowledge to identify, troubleshoot, and diagnose maintenance problems and determine appropriate corrective action.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Level I & II

    • Perform servicing, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance/inspections on aircraft systems, sub-systems, components, and related aerospace equipment.
    • Perform launch, recovery, post- flight, pre-flight, and thru-flight inspections.
    • Perform acceptance, transfer, special, and phased inspections.
    • Removes install, and troubleshoot aircraft parts and accessories/components to include flight control surfaces and secondary power system components.
    • Adjust, align, and rig flight control, landing gear, actuated doors, variable ramp assemblies, various cables/linkages, and associated equipment.
    • Perform aircraft jacking, lifting, towing, and manual movement.
    • Inspect and check components for clearances, tolerances, proper installation, and operation.
    • Perform basic aircraft structural repairs.
    • Complete maintenance and modification of aircraft and equipment.
    • Perform functional and operational maintenance ground tests.
    • Perform corrosion control inspection/prevention, aircraft wash, and lubrication.
    • Perform EOR operations, quick turns, hot pit refueling operations.
    • Review and complete aircraft maintenance forms entries and enters data into applicable aircraft Maintenance Information Systems (MIS).
    • Inspect, maintain, and inventory aircraft alternate mission equipment.
    • Operate and inspect powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment.
    • Perform routine FOD inspections.
    • Comply with technical data usage policy.
    • Prepare material Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDR) faulty parts and components as required.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
    • Assist with aircraft weight and balance procedures with direct supervision.
    • Use hand-tools, fixtures, and specialized test equipment correctly and efficiently.
    • Select personnel may be required to perform engine run operations when qualified and certified in accordance with (IAW) AFI and local procedures.
    • Select personnel may be required to perform Crashed, Damaged, Disabled Aircraft Recovery (CDDAR) duties IAW AFI 21-101, TO 00-80C-1, and local procedures.
    • Select personnel may be required to respond to in-flight and ground emergencies (IFEs/GEs) IAW AFI and local procedures.
    • Select personnel may be required to perform Repair and Reclamation (R&R) processes to include troubleshoot, rig, and replace landing gears, actuated doors, canopies, and associated equipment requiring component maintenance beyond the capability of other activities.
    • Select personnel may be required to build-up, repair, test, and store wheel and tire assemblies and components.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Level III (Lead)

    • Lead teams performing maintenance tasks and perform all tasks outlined for Level I and II.
    • Provide guidance to Aircraft Mechanics using thorough knowledge of aircraft repair/modification procedures.
    • Apply expert technical knowledge to analyze aircraft and equipment data and diagnose maintenance problems and determine corrective actions.
    • Maintain individual currencies and certifications as required to provide effective leadership and training.
    • Inspect completed maintenance actions for aircraft grounding (Red X) discrepancies and maintenance tasks.
    • Perform In-Process-Inspections (IPI) on critical maintenance tasks.
    • Coordinate work schedules with appropriate manager to ensure optimal team balance.
    • Perform engine runs, CDDAR, and Weight & Balance procedures as required.
    • Ensure work areas are clean and orderly.
    • Enforce technical data usage compliance.
    • Enforce safety standards to encourage a work environment of zero incidents, accidents, and injuries including no lost time accidents.
    • Review and submit material PQDRs.
    • Handle difficult and sensitive situations, using sound, independent judgment within general policy and legal guidelines.
    • Conduct orientation sessions with new employees at the operating site to include local safety, formal, and web-based briefings/training.
    • Coordinate with appropriate manager on assigned Aircraft Mechanics career development training plans and ensures assigned Aircraft Mechanics meet individual training plan benchmarks.
    • Monitor individual training progress and report to the appropriate manager. Recommends corrective actions to training shortfalls if required.
    • Develop good working relationships with resource providers and government representatives.
    • Prioritize workloads effectively to maintain schedules.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
