- Ph.D. in an engineering discipline (e. g. software engineering), computer science, mathematics, computational mathematics, physics, or a similar field with 10+ years related experience
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience applying ML/AI to Department of Defense (DoD) and/or Intelligence Community (IC) problem domains, including radar, optical or infrared imagery, and electronic warfare systems
- Coursework in computer vision, machine learning, or neural networks
- Experience with digital signal processing algorithms, techniques, and related technologies
- Technical proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and common deep learning frameworks (e.g., Tensorflow, PyTorch)
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Experience designing and developing ML/AI solutions for deployment on embedded platforms
- Familiar with signal processing algorithms, techniques, and related technologies
- Defense industry experience
- Technical proficiency in C++ and edge deployment

Description
SRC, Inc. is seeking a Senior Principal Machine Intelligence and Autonomy engineer to work in the machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) domains for our Syracuse, NY or Rome, NY office. The rapid advancement of deep learning continues to enable new and innovative applications, solutions, and capabilities for our products, including ground and airborne radar systems, electronic warfare (EW) systems, optical sensors, and more. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to design, develop, and field solutions using deep learning and other machine learning models on state-of-the-art hardware to solve a variety of challenges of national significance.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing solutions to complex research problems where little or no precedent exists, innovation is required, and which may extend the boundaries of existing knowledge. May create new technologies and extend them into new applications. May lead the development of intellectual property and support IP matters. May hold trade secrets or patents.

The engineer is expected to work independently to achieve objectives in accordance with the organization's strategic goals. Advise top management on research trends and their probable effects on the organization. Determines methods and procedures on new/innovative assignments. Provide discipline area guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers. May lead project team(s) as required. May lead discipline community to drive the adoption of business objectives, technology trends and customer needs into products.

Total compensation for this role is market competitive. The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Syracuse, NY is estimated at $165,000 to $207,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location as well as other business and organizational needs.
