    Summary:
    PRN, Days (Music Therapist - Board Certified required)
    Coordinates therapeutic music interventions to address the medical experiences of patients and families. Promotes and practices the delivery of high quality family-centered care and services for patients and families.

    Responsible for developing, implementing, modifying and evaluating music therapy services designed to restore, maintain or improve cognitive, physical, emotional and social function of children, teens and young adults and their families.

    Description

    • Gathers information and documents the psychosocial needs of patients and families through patient/family meeting, nursing report and consultation with medical staff.
    • Ensures patients and families receive appropriate clinical services, medical plan, prepare families for medical events, assist with hospitalization and diagnosis, emotional support and discharge planning.
    • Provides patients and families with developmental services including group activities and interventions.
    • Supervises, orients, and trains volunteers and Interns to provide quality interactions with patients.
    • Gathers information on psychosocial needs of patients and families using daily nursing report, medical staff consultations, meetings with patients and families, documenting the medical record.
    • Provides comprehensive music therapy programs to address patient strengths and needs and develop treatment plan, goals and music therapy services.
    • Acts as part of a patient care team, communicating with team for patient care outcomes documenting music therapy treatment plan.
    • Maintains education and certification through American Music Therapy Association including education of staff, volunteers, students and others about music therapy.
    • Maintains supplies, technical equipment and musical instruments for music therapy services on budget and report malfunctioning or missing equipment.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
