This role involves monitoring and staying updated on tax regulation changes and making necessary updates to policies and strategies.The Indirect Tax Manager will provide comprehensive tax support and compliance for multiple enterprises, including areas such as sales and use tax, personal property tax, GST, VAT, IVA tax, audit defense, and other required annual business filings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure accurate and timely filing of monthly and quarterly sales, use, Canadian GST, and liaise with third-party filers for Mexico, Canada, Netherlands, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
Manage all aspects of sales and use tax compliance, including maintaining sales tax rates in the system, determining compliance with sales and use tax regulations in respective states, maintaining current sales tax exemption certificates, and reviewing and auditing sales and accounts payable for compliance.
Perform monthly reconciliations of indirect tax accounts and prepare necessary journal entries related to the indirect tax function.Utilize strong accounting skills to analyze and reconcile tax-related accounts between statutory (in-country) tax accounts and the US parent reporting.
Prepare and ensure compliance with personal property tax, business license, annual reports, and unclaimed property forms. Ensure that finance systems and processes capture necessary data and documentation for indirect tax audits. Effectively manage global indirect tax audits and examinations.Act as a liaison between customer service and customers for compliance with exemption certificates for direct and drop ship sales.
Possess strong knowledge and skills in identifying sales taxable transactions, complying with Wayfair regulations, and analyzing business activity in states to determine nexus status and prepare necessary registration or withdrawal documents.
Prepare to lead the implementation of the Avalara system as the project captain.Utilize experience or working knowledge of Federal and State income tax to support the Tax Director in producing book-to-tax worksheets, foreign bank reporting, and other necessary workpapers for Federal and State income tax functions.
Maintain tax basis of furniture, fixtures, and equipment property schedules in depreciation software. Challenge existing processes and recommend/support necessary improvements relevant to the Indirect Tax function. Promote a collaborative work environment, encouraging effective communication and cross-training initiatives to enhance team productivity, versatility, and skill development. Undertakes additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by management.QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, & Skills required) Bachelor's degree in Tax or Accounting 5+ years' experience concentrated in the area of indirect tax Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software; Advanced Excel; Previous experience with sales tax support software, fixed asset software, LN/Infor, SAP or similar ERP Demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities.
Capable of following instructions and responding to management direction. Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Exhibits experience working collaboratively in a team environment.Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills Employment Type:
