    The School of Education - Center for Sensory & Complex Disabilities need to hire 2 Accommodation Workshop Facilitators for the Summer 2024 Transition program.

    The Accommodations Workshop Coordinator is an integral part of the Summer Transition Programs at The College of New Jersey. The Virtual Workshop Coordinator is a professional instructional staff member with the primary responsibilities of coordinating and facilitating program activities. The primary responsibilities of the workshop coordinator are to initiate and maintain positive communication/relationships between participants and the program staff. To act as a lead facilitator for the program participants to enhance their social, educational, vocational and/or personal development. Plan and facilitate four (4) workshops/meetings in the areas of: Identifying/Requesting Accommodations, Identifying Support Needs, and Identifying and Utilizing Support Networks. Workshop Coordinators should also have sensitivity to, and awareness of the needs, anxieties, and frustrations of program participants as well as provide help and assistance in both group and one-on-one situations.

    Our programs are referral-based and run in partnership with the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired. We currently coordinate three Transition Programs for high school students who have vision loss. All of our programs focus on preparation for employment, person-centered planning, community-based instruction, social skills, self-advocacy, independent living, and recreation and leisure skills. Our STEPS Program is for individuals with complex disabilities who are preparing for a customized employment plan after they transition from high school. The SUCCESS Program is for individuals who are looking to attend post-secondary educational programs. Our CREATE Program is a blend of both of the above programs and is designed for individuals who may need a bit of additional support or time to help them prepare for life after high school.

    Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop lessons and program for 4 workshops with specific topics
  • Will facilitate all 4 workshops with support of other program staff
  • Determine how workshops will be conducted in groups or with 1 to 1 participation
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Several Years of experience with Accommodation needs
  • Bachelors Degree or higher
  • Demonstrated ability and develop 4 specific topic workshops
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of accommodations process
  • Experience with the Disability Resource Center or similar agency
  • Employer Qualifications:

    • Final offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of background check and reference checks
