Job summary
The Certified Pharmacy Technician I-IV assists the pharmacist in storing preparing distributing reconciling and charging all medications and other healthcare products to the appropriate areas serviced by the pharmacy.Accurately and efficiently prepares and labels medications. Always obtains a final check from the pharmacist before dispensingdelivering a medication or releasing any compounded medication. Tracks prescription orders via pharmacy programs to ensure correct delivery information is given to patients Maintains confidentiality of patient information Monitors and ensures adequate inventory is maintained in all areas Communicates when products need to be reordered Manages drug supplies in a cost-effective manner and identifies opportunities to minimize waste Ensures medication management processes meet all legal regulatory requirements Performs routine tasks using existing policies has conceptual knowledge of theories practices procedures within discipline typically acquired through technical training Develops competency by performing structured work assignments receives instruction guidance direction from others Continues builds knowledge organization pharmacy processes Inpatient Oncology Pharmacy Accurately prepares IVs utilizing aseptic technique under supervision pharmacist accordance USP Guidelines Texas State Board Pharmacy Rules Regulations Assists maintaining unit dose readiness bulk products Verifies barcode scan accuracy Makes timely rounds accurately safely transports medications other pharmacy supplies assigned areas Replenishes stock automated dispensing system crash cart trays specialty medication boxes accurately timely Performs documents quality control activities including monthly medication storage area inspections completes required log sheets Performs daily ADS routines outdates discrepancy resolution loading unloading etc troubleshoots ADS issues pocketdrawer failures temperatures range interface issues etc Outpatient Pharmacy Assists triaging filling prescriptions while maintaining productivity standards Performs cashier functions processing daily ad hoc reports Verifies updates patient demographic insurance prescription information computer system Assists patients providing excellent customer service directly via telephone Use associated hardware software complete pharmaceutical transactions duties
