    Equipment and Fleet Mechanic Summary

    As an Equipment & Fleet Mechanic, you will perform repairs, replacement and preventive maintenance on all site vehicles and equipment, and all motorized tools in both scheduled and emergency situations. Should be able to work 4x10 schedule, including holidays and overtime as required.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    · Troubleshoots and repairs motorized equipment and vehicles with a minimum of assistance of instructions.

    · Performs all work safely.

    · Performs all tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

    · Identifies replacement parts and equipment accurately.

    · Completes material requisitions in a complete and accurate manner.

    · Writes complete and accurate account of work performed onto work orders.

    · Performs preventive maintenance tasks as required.

    · Advises Facilities Supervisor of any unusual and abnormal vehicle or equipment condition.

    · Performs lubrication and oil changes on all vehicles and motorized equipment.

    · Operates heavy equipment, i.e., forklift, backhoe, tractors, front-end loaders and crane.

    · Maintain shop in a safe and clean environment.

    · Must follow the site procedure to properly dispose of oil or any hazardous materials within the plant.

    Requirements:

    Prerequisites

    High school education or equivalent. Work experience as a mechanic with basic knowledge of hand tools and small motorized equipment. Effective verbal and written communication skills. The ability to speak, read and write in English.

    Skills and Abilities

    · Ability to maintain daily logs on yard equipment and brief operators on operating equipment properly and safely.

    · Ability to operate heavy equipment, i.e., forklift, backhoe, tractors, front-end loaders.

    · Ability to identify vehicle and equipment failure and determine proper repair procedure.

    · Ability to function effectively with limited supervision.

    · Ability to work safety and effectively with others.

    · Willingness to assist in all vehicle and equipment failures.

    · Willingness to assist with other crafts as needed.

    · Ability to read and interpret information in repair manuals.

    · Willingness to assist in training other personnel.

    · Ability to operate computer in accessing parts and information.

    · Ability to requesting quotes from suppliers for parts and services.

    · Ability to create work orders and assign parts.

    Essential Functions

    Ability to perform heavy physical work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force on a frequent basis, and up to 20 pounds constantly, performing such activities as grasping, lifting, reaching, crouching, standing, walking, running, climbing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, sitting, and repetitive tasks. The ability to discern assorted colors.

    Working Conditions

    Works in normal power plant environment. Potential exposure to hot, cold, sudden change of temperature, dry, wet, dusty, quiet, noisy, moving objects, exposure to sun and rain, high places, and working alone or with others. Potential hazards include minor cuts, minor burns, electrical shock, falling objects, falls, eyesight and hearing impairment. Wearing of personal protective equipment is necessary, as is the ability to legally operate Company vehicles. Safety critical position.
