    University Behavioral Health of Denton is a private freestanding psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and chemical dependency care.

    Serving North Texas and surrounding areas, UBH Denton has provided a range of programs treating mental health illnesses and substance abuse issues since 2005. Our inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services offer supportive and compassionate care for adolescents and adults with specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients.

    Shift: Day Shift - Full time

    Position Summary:

    The Program Therapist performs social services functions to include assisting patients in meeting their biopsychosocial needs while enabling them to access through therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of emotional health, including providing basic consultation, teaching, complete specialized clinical social work services for patients/families receiving care, crisis intervention, short-term and long-term family therapy, and providing information and referrals as needed.

    Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and conduct educational, therapeutic, and/or support groups.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, health care team members and community providers regarding patient status and progress.
  • Responsible for discharge plans including scheduling of appointments and communication with parents and significant family contacts.

    Qualifications

    Education: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Social Work or a clinical related mental health field .

    Experience: Program Therapist requires a minimum of two (2) years' experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills; must have strong clinical assessment skills. Military experience preferred.

    License: LCSW, LMSW, LPC, or LPC-Associate license to practice in the State of Texas.

    Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR and approved HWC training. Certification may be obtained during new hire orientation. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
