    Description

    Schneider Electric & Autodesk are partnering to develop a new product to ease the design of electrical networks in the BIM environment. This is a very ambitious and promising partnership where the alliance of Autodesk and Schneider Electric's respective expertise will allow us to release on the market software that will support our customers from conceptual design to detailed design to enable their economic growth and overall business efficiency while designing more sustainable buildings.

Our team faces a variety of unique and interesting challenges, from creating new features and components, implementing services across different tech-stacks, creating engaging end-user experiences, to building performant, scalable and highly available services that are seamlessly integrated with the Autodesk platform. Along the way, we will be creating and building best in breed product development and delivery standards and best practices from the ground up

    Position Overview

    We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer, preferably a P.E. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering and having broad experience in electrical design, engineering, documentation and business knowledge to be a hands-on "voice of the customer", translating customer business needs and pain points into software development requirements and specifications.

    The electrical engineering SME must have a strong understanding of the design of building electrical distribution systems across all design phases, from conceptual design to installation.They should also have a working knowledge of how various codes and standards are applied throughout this process, namely NEC, IEEE, and ANSI.Familiarity with the calculations outlined in the qualifications is also key to being successful in this role.

    The SME should also be familiar with the Agile software development process.

    Responsibilities

    • Developing the written specifications for how various electrical features will function within the application
    • Aiding in the translation of these specifications into functional requirements and user stories, which will then be used by development to create tangible feature
    • Identifying areas where technical solutions would improve business performance.
    • Translate business and customer needs into software requirements to build software solutions in a TDD/BDD capacity (test-driven development/behavior-driven development) capacity
    • Contributing to the development and verification of technical reference information, including user guides, training manuals, and system requirements.
    • Determining whether technical solutions meet defined requirements.
    • Build functional requirements documentation conveying a broad understanding of customer practices, identifying local habits and specificities co-designing solutions with targeted user
    • Collaborate with countries local electrical experts on code compliance & standards, and relevant design calculation input as per those relevant standards
    • Identify, document, and convey to design teams, target countries localization requirements linked to local offer and local electrical design practices
    • Give inputs to the product team about the different electrical global and local standards
    • Act as the voice of customer and business towards the development team
    • Participating and/or leading one-on-one and team sessions with peers, colleagues, partners, and customers that highlight Electrical Engineers business objectives, business issues and their resolution
    • Developing/delivering/leading Schneider industry strategy workshops for internal Schneider, as well as, partner consumption.
    • As guided by the QA/Testing leader, contribute to the definition of user acceptance test plans and acceptance criteria along with the Product Manager
    • Actively develops, manages, and nurtures select customer relationships, conducting ongoing, in-depth analysis of customer long-term technology issues and strategies for future roadmap development along with Product Managers and Product Owners
    Qualifications

    Desired Qualifications
    • Deep Electrical design and code compliance understanding, different electrical calculation standards (namely NEC, IEEE, and ANSI) and customer experience knowledge
    • Familiarity with and/or ability to outline the process for the following calculations: Load calculations, ampacity sizing of electrical equipment, arc flash, short circuit, selective coordination, harmonic analysis
    • Familiarity performing the afore-mentioned calculations on analysis software such as SKM or ETAP
    • Experience designing electrical distribution systems that utilize renewables, such as solar and wind, or microgrids
    • Knowledge of AEC design and construction business operations and project management.
    • Knowledge of BIM, and functionally competent using Autodesk Revit MEP software
    • Advanced ability to recommend and implement technical solutions for cross-functional projects.
    • Knowledge of systems and software engineering to optimally integrate subject expertise in software solution designs.
    • Ability to translate customer needs and business strategy in user stories and software requirements
    • Ability to document user stories, requirements, and test plans
    • Ability to identify minimum cost, maximum return solutions
    • Effectiveness in a cross-cultural environment
    • Leadership and capacity to foster collaboration toward a common goal
    • Excellent recordkeeping, as well as written and verbal communication skills.

    The Ideal Candidate
    • P.E. or a M.S. Electrical Engineering
    • 7-10 years' experience in a design or construction firm performing electrical engineering, design and documentation
    • Strong experiences in the functions of Business Analyst
    • Previous experience of Agile software development methodology.
    • Higher consideration for Scaled Agile Framework ( SAFe 5.1)
