    Description

    The Painter assures EDEN properties meet agency and community standards for painting and decorating. This position assists in ensuring EDEN's properties are maintained to provide EDEN's residents with safe, decent, and sanitary housing.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    1. Performs drywall, trim, wall, ceiling, window, and door surface repairs, fills cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers to provide proper surface preparation. Removes fixtures, cover plates, knobs, and pictures prior to painting. Evens surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines.
    2. Wears appropriate personal Protective Equipment for work tasks as required. Safety shoes (ANSI approved) must be worn at all times during working hours. Safety glasses must be worn while working on EDEN owned/managed properties.
    3. Covers surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
    4. Applies primers and sealers to prepare new surfaces. Applies paint, stain, varnish, enamel, or other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
    5. Mixes and matches colors of paint, stain, or vanish with oil or thinning and drying additives to obtain desired colors and consistencies.
    6. Reads work orders or receives instructions from supervisors. Completes assigned projects within designated time periods.
    7. Measures and calculates the required materials for window blinds. Installs window blinds as directed by Assistant Manager of Facilities and Maintenance.
    8. Assists maintenance technicians as needed in completing minor building repairs duties as assigned.
    9. Completes all required paperwork for assigned projects.
    10. Maintains agency vehicle in safe operational condition.
    11. Maintains all tools, materials, and equipment necessary for job performance in good, clean working order.
    12. Ensures adequate inventory of products and supplies. Notifies supervisor of required items as needed.
    13. Represents agency to EDEN's residents, community, vendors and public officials in a mature, respectful and responsible manner.
    14. Participates in maintenance and staff meetings and assigned committees as required.
    A minimum of 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in surface preparation, painting, dry wall, and general maintenance field is required. A valid Ohio driver's license with good driving record and proof of insurance is required.
