This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties:
- A Psychiatrist who supports both outpatient and inpatient psychiatry services, rotates call with other psychiatrists, and supports CBOC Telemed services. The incumbent plays an essential role in providing timely treatment and evaluation for Veterans with a wide range of psychiatric concerns, which includes PTSD, depression, substance abuse, and psychosis. Incumbent supports the teaching mission of both the Service and medical center by providing resident supervision and teaching.
- The Psychiatrist is responsible for coordinating care with providers internal and external to their own Service Line, other VHA facilities, and community providers as determined by the plan of care for the Veteran. Open, clear, and collaborative engagements are a key duty. Incumbent is ultimately responsible to ensure barriers for Veterans and staff are minimized in order to promote a positive work environment. The incumbent fosters positive working relationships with staff, peers, and Veterans.
- Perform and document a comprehensive physical assessment, with emphasis on the mental status and neurological exam. Develop a treatment plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on evidence-based standards of care, biopsychosocial theories, and current practice guidelines.
Collaborate as a leader of the interdisciplinary mental health and other health care teams and provide mental health consultation to other team members, including the primary care team.
- The Psychiatrists within the Behavioral Health Service Line shall be available for emergency MH interventions, including Judicial commitment, Consultation- Liaison, and emergency Psychiatric interventions, if needed.
- The Psychiatrist will rotate call with the other Psychiatrists which include weekends and evenings.
- The Psychiatrist may participate in various hospital committees, departmental and hospital in-service programs, and education programs of the department and the hospital as recommended by the Chief of Behavioral Health or the Chief of Staff. They are also involved in continuous quality improvement through peer review process.
- The incumbent may perform other directly related duties based on the specialty assignment and BH Service needs, as allocated by the supervisor.
Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. NOTE: Expected to participate in on-call rotation
