    Description
    Overview

    Specialized paraprofessional work for the Department of Mental Health including active professional support, consultation, problem-solving, and guidance statewide on the movement of individuals proposed for involuntary treatment services. Frequent interaction and procedural guidance is required with community mental health staff, law enforcement personnel, legal department, clinical and administrative leadership 24/7. Work is performed under the supervision of the VPCH Director of Hospital Operations. Duties include migrating from a paper-based system to an electronic system of record, production of statistical reports, and addressing immediate case management and complicated disposition needs. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, and strengths-based relationships and results orientation.

    Environmental Factors

    Duties are performed in an office setting, but with constant interruptions from telephone calls, visitors, and staff requesting assistance. Incumbents may be assigned to different shifts as required to provide 24-hour coverage and may be the sole representative of the Hospital readily available to the public. Extensive interaction with patients and with their family members in emotional situations may entail some danger and significant discomfort.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Three (3) years working in a psychiatric care setting including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
