    Job Description

    The Assistant Project Manager role requires leadership and management skills for assigned projects in a safe, profitable, and timely manner. This involves negotiating vendors, pricing, budgets, and schedule requirements.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Ensure project success by managing safety, schedule, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
    • Participate in business development by contacting clients, building relationships, creating proposals, making presentations, and negotiating selected projects.
    • Maintain professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
    • Understand and administer prime contract terms, contract documents, subcontract agreements, purchase order agreements, etc.
    • Prepare estimates and reviews, including project review meetings that analyze contract requirements, general conditions, schedules, budgets, subcontracts, and purchase order agreements.
    • Coordinate with the Project Superintendent to ensure successful and profitable work execution.
    • Prevent and document delays or changes, and manage costs using available reports to prepare accurate cost projections.
    • Execute change orders, supplements, and cost control budget adjustments, and manage billings for timely payment applications and collection of payments from the owner.
    • Prepare purchase order agreements and subcontracts concerning insurance certificates, bonds, and lien waivers, and complete close-out requirements and punch lists promptly.
    • Provide feedback to estimators on future bidding or negotiations, especially subcontractor performance evaluations.
    • Evaluate all work products for consistency with industry standards and applicable specifications and requirements.
    • Provide ongoing training and mentoring to entry-level and mid-level engineers to promote employee development.

    Requirements

    • Prior experience in asphalt paving, grading, and storm drainage (preferred).
    • Project Management experience (preferred).
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; preferably in construction management.
    • Knowledgeable in estimating in a paving or construction environment.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Able to interact with external and internal customers and partners in a fast-paced, multitasking environment, working independently with a high degree of problem-solving.
    • Proficient in Excel, HCSS/JDE, and experience with an estimating package helpful.
