    SUMMARY


    Position is responsible for directing, coordinating and supervising all components for Facilities Services in an assigned borough and to ensure the safest and healthiest workplace possible.

    This includes the direct supervision of staff, maintenance of agency facilities, cleaning of agency grounds and facilities, compliance with all applicable building regulations.

    The position maintains the authority to exercise independent judgment within the framework of established policies and procedures that influence operations and improvements to the facilities.

    This person serves as liaison with other agency programs and outside agencies and vendors.


    COMPENSATION:
    $75,000 - $90,000 annually + Industry Leading Benefits


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    The duties and responsibilities of the Director of Facilities Services will include but are not limited to the following:


    • Interviews, trains, and supervises subordinate staff.
    • Inspects assigned agency facilities on a regular basis to ensure they are being properly maintained and kept clean. Works with Program staff to facilitate utmost cleanliness.
    • Oversees and manages schedules and work assignments of custodians and maintenance workers and administrative staff.
    • Provides oversight of staff duties and facilities maintenance.
    • Ensures maintenance requests are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Monitors department budget.
    • Implements UCP policies and procedures for assigned areas.
    • Prepares project projections and other relevant reporting statistics as they relate to assigned borough.
    • Works with Director of Facilities Management on long range capital and non-capital projects.
    • Ensures that staff receives all required in-service training on proper cleaning methods, sanitation, safety and hazard prevention.
    • Ensures staff training for operation of machinery and equipment i.e. floor machines, wet/dry vacuums, detergents, strippers, abrasives, germicides, disinfectants, solvents and related materials.
    • Oversees completion of special site-specific maintenance projects as requested.
    • Conducts frequent area assessments and observations of practices, materials, equipment and environment.
    • Oversees the upkeep of agency grounds and ensures staff effectively removes snow and ice from same.
    • Handles personnel matters including vacations, sick leave time, attendance records and all related forms.
    • Performs necessary department paperwork as requested.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • Valid NY State Drivers License and maintain it in good standing.
    • New York City Fire Department License for sites in which it is required.
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
    • Good interpersonal skills are required in order to interact effectively with employees, co-workers, other departments, outside contacts, etc.
    • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
    • Ability to train staff on the operation of machinery and facilities equipment such as floor machines, wet/dry vacuums, cleaning equipment and appropriate preventative methods.
    • Knowledge of HVAC Mechanical Systems
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
    • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and appropriate software.
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


    • High school or Trade school degree; College degree preferred.
    • At least five years of managerial experience in Facilities Services.
