Description of Position:
This position is a non-exempt position with responsibility for providing and assisting in the coordination of day/vocational supports for individuals in the Pottstown Community Options Program.
The Community Support Specialist (CSS) is responsible for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to integrate into the community, volunteer and/or work activities in accordance with federal, state, local and agency guidelines.
He/she is responsible for assisting the supervisor in assessing the needs and interests of the individuals served and for seeing that these needs and interests are addressed through community activities.
This employee assists in maintaining a healthy emotional and physical environment for individuals supported by the program and assures that the program in all ways reflects the needs and individuality of all people served.
This employee also shares in the responsibility for the image that the facility, individuals supported by the program, and staff present to the community.
This employee's role is to help the person served achieve his/her greatest potential through individualized support, while at the same time being sensitive to the personal needs of each person.
