- Prescription Management: Prescribe and fit lenses based on patient needs.
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Manage eye conditions, provide care or referrals.
- Patient Education: Communicate health information and treatment plans.
- Ocular Disease Management: Monitor and treat eye diseases.
- Surgical Care: Pre- and post-operative care, as well as procedures allowed to the extent of Alaska's scope of practice (e.g. YAG procedures)
- Record Keeping: Maintain patient records.

- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree.
- Valid state optometry license.
