The Opportunity
The School of Performing Arts, Music Department at the University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant professor in applied clarinet. Duties will include instruction, recruitment, retention, and development of the clarinet studio, assisting in the administration of the woodwinds area, and other teaching according to the qualifications of the applicant and the needs of the department. We are seeking a candidate who will work collaboratively with UCF woodwind faculty to build strong relationships with school music educators and private studio teachers, while relating to—and working well with—UCF's diverse student population.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in music from an accredited institution.
Significant experience as an artist/performer on clarinet at a regional or national level that demonstrates a clear capacity for academic advancement commensurate with a tenure-earning position.
Extensive knowledge of—and ability to teach and perform in—a variety of musical styles and genres.
Demonstrated success in teaching, recruitment, and retention of clarinet students at the college/university level.
Minimum of three (3) years prior teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completed doctorate in music from an accredited institution.
Significant experience as an artist/performer on clarinet at an international level that demonstrates a clear capacity for academic advancement commensurate with a tenure-earning position.
Demonstrated experience and interest in collaborative performance with UCF faculty.
