    General Information/Job Summary

    The Construction Site Expeditor is responsible for coordinating and expediting the delivery of equipment and materials to ensure industrial construction schedules can be followed. The expeditor will ensure timely material and/or equipment deliveries, accurate inventory of incoming supplies as well as effective tracking and procurement processes. The expeditor will work closely with engineering and construction and must also consult with outside shipping agents and vendors daily and address any material or equipment related issues or difficulties.

    Responsibilities/Competencies

    • Coordinate material movement by tracking and reporting Construction/Engineering equipment and/or commodity material deliveries for multiple SI projects.
    • Contribute to the efforts of Project Managers, Procurement team and Construction team to ensure that material is delivered on schedule according to the construction field need dates.
    • Maintain a daily call log detailing phone conservations and email with suppliers and follow up as needed.
    • Update and maintain expediting records, reports, and correspondence for all projects in the appropriate project folders.
    • Attend project meetings when required to inform project team of critical path items.
    • Work closely with the Materials group to resolve all OS&D issues.
    • Build and develop relationships with key vendor suppliers and contacts.
    • Attend training as required to increase knowledge and skills of other areas within the department.
    • Work with the Accounts Payable Department to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure accurate and timely payment of them.
    • Participate in the resolution of vendor grievances and claims against SI as directed, as well as those claims against the vendor by SI.
    • Solicits lien waivers from Vendors at end of project.
    • Obtains quotes from carriers and arranges transportation of material as necessary.
    • Implement quality control measures for incoming materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
    • Work closely with the procurement team to coordinate material and equipment procurement, expediting deliveries as necessary.
    Requirements
    • High school diploma required.
    • 4-6 years' experience directly related to expediting engineering and construction projects
    • Knowledge of and familiarity with pipe, fittings, flanges, electrical and instrumentation materials.
    • Advanced skills in Data entry and Microsoft Office Suites
    • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, as well as advanced skills in transportation.
    • Construction Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of materials management practices and challenges in the industrial construction industry.
    • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to address materials-related challenges and maintain smooth operations.
    • Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with various stakeholders and team members.
    • Computer Proficiency: Proficient in using materials management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate inventory tracking and documentation.
    • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project needs and navigate potential challenges in materials management.
    Physical Requirements
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to walk the property and laydown yards.
    • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
