- Handles all telephone calls and greets visitors and participants; Takes message as needed and delivers to appropriate personnel
- Schedules all participant diagnostic appointments and medical consultations
- Request medical records; Ensures that all results from all laboratory, radiological and other tests and procedures are obtained and reported to the physician and clinical staff
- Checks all medications received from Pharmacy on a daily basis to ensure that they match what was ordered; Prepares them with delivery tickets and distributes them to the appropriate driver
- Maintains unit specific documentation as per department guidelines and regulatory standards
- Maintains Electronic Medical Record
- Acts as support for Patient Coordinator; Understands priorities of Coordinator position and perform scheduling and coordination duties when required Including authorizations; Provides authorization for treatment/procedures to hospitals and other providers; Enters information in the system and maintains an updated agenda
- Responsible to update daily IDT agenda and record daily IDT minutes
- Performs clerical and support functions for the department
- Attends department meetings and in-services as needed
- Order supplies for PACE on the Meditech system
- Manages traffic flow in the clinic exhibiting an assertive professional behavior at all times
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum six months office clerical experience preferably in a healthcare setting
- Medical secretary certification preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong organizational skills
- Self-starter and self-motivated
- Strong computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point
- Ability to work with geriatric patients
- Demonstrates a caring attitude toward PACE participants, family members, employees, and other facility guests
- Must be able to speak, read and write English
- Bilingual Spanish/English required
- Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation
- No routine or potential exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues, but may require performing unplanned activities which may involve exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues
- Ensures that resident's/patient's rights are adhered to
