Description
Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Administers radiopharmaceuticals or radiation to patients
to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment,
under direction of provider; explains the procedures to
the patient, answers the patients questions, and obtains
the patients consent; injects (doses) patients with
radioactive material.
Places radiopharmaceutical orders after reviewing
providers orders; obtains and documents pertinent to
patient history; calculates, measures and records
radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received.
Determines the correct procedure for the study ordered;
maintains the required records for dosing, decaying and
disposing of radioactive material.
Performs required quality control on all cameras and dose
measuring equipment.
