    Sierra Executive Solutions, Inc. (SES) is a 3rd party search firm recruiting for a Staff level Cost Accountant in the food manufacturing industry. This is an exempt, on site/hybrid role and reports to a tenured and well-liked Accounting Manager. The hiring company offers a very robust, well above average, benefits program for all employees.

    Responsibilities:

    The Staff Cost Accountant will lead and support Supply Chain Management (SCM) Teams financial initiatives, such as costing, financial analysis on CapEx projects, cost savings projects, expense management, and other initiatives. In addition, the Staff Cost Accountant will support financial forecasting and budgeting for the strategic decision- making across the organization.

    Primary Duties:

    Construct data accumulation systems for cost accounting systems.

    Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle count and develop process to ensure obsolete inventory has adequate provisions.

    Validate cost of goods sold as part of the month end close.

    Review standard costs and actual costs for inaccuracies.

    Calculate monthly detail of all manufacturing variances and report issues to Production VP/CFO in a timely manner.

    Undertake capital evaluations for new projects and fixed asset control

    Assist in the companys monthly, quarterly and yearly closing.

    Work with CFO and support the company forecasting activities and annual budgeting process.

    Implement automation throughout the Accounting departments to improve accuracy and efficiency.

    Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports as needed to support decision-making.

    Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

    Other Duties:

    Investigate physical inventory variances and resolve issues

    Update standard costs in the bill of materials

    Report on margins by product to support sales strategy

    Financial modeling when required

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND LICENSES:

    Bachelors degree (B.A.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university and minimum 3 years Staff Accounting level experience and/or training in manufacturing industry

    CORE COMPETENCIES:

    3+ years Staff level or Cost Accounting experience in manufacturing industry.

    Strong analysis and financial reporting skills required.

    Proficient personal computer skills including routine database activity, word processing,

    spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

    The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
