    Summary

    LCG is seeking a Senior Windows Systems Administrator to join our infrastructure team. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of and managing the Windows Servers, computer network, and associated IT systems infrastructure.

    Position Overview

    As a member of our infrastructure team, you will support research projects by offering state-of-the-art systems and network capabilities to the researchers using the computer facilities.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Perform daily systems administration tasks including:
      1. Install, manage, and maintain Windows workstations, VMware servers, and personal computers, and administer user accounts.
      2. Install, manage, and maintain backup of Windows workstations and servers (e.g., tape backup using EMC Networker and Quantum tape library).
      3. Design, install, support, and maintain network servers, NAS, and local storage environments.
      4. Manage and maintain Applications, Databases, Home directory, and Web servers on the cross-platform Windows environment and ensure they are functioning at peak performance.
      5. Work with Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019.
    2. Perform website administration tasks including software upgrades, backup, troubleshooting, and enhancement as necessary.
    3. Serve as the Point of Contact for other wide IT groups regarding the network and systems and generate required documentation.
    4. Provide technical expertise and support to the staff and user community to ensure that research and administrative work are carried out without interruption.
    5. Assess the equipment and infrastructure needs of the network, including procurement of equipment, as well as testing and ensuring proper operation of new equipment.
    6. Provide input in developing specifications and coordinating procurement of the facilities required to support the overall goals of the network and computing needs.
    7. Recommend the acquisition of major equipment and expansion of the network to support growing user needs.
    8. Regularly communicate with Technical Director on project status, early identification of risks, and recommended improvements to the overall IT support and network infrastructure.
    9. Perform all network administration tasks daily, including maintenance of network switches and routers, security monitoring, DHCP, and firewall maintenance.

    Requirements

    1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or another related field is required.
    2. 7 years of experience in administering and maintaining various types of servers (application, backup, web), workstations, and personal computers.
    3. Experience in configuring and maintaining Windows-based workstations, including virtual environments (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, VMware vSphere 5.x).
    4. Experience in maintaining and enhancing websites using Drupal.
    5. Strong verbal and communication skills.
    6. Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
    7. Government experience is highly desired.

    We offer a competitive salary range of $110,800 to $140,200 per year, benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The target salary for this role is $125,000.
